Single –

to file single one must be unmarried

Head of Household – one must be unmarried, claim a relative who is a qualifying child/dependent & pay more than half the cost of the household

Married Jointly – one must be married. The Married Filing Jointly filing status provides more tax benefits than married filing separate filing status
